What’s happening?

Old lane markings will be removed and new ones will be applied along Amsterdam Avenue between 110th Street and 155th Street. This work is expected to begin further uptown, and continue in sections for several weeks.

The street will remain open, but during the project, drivers can anticipate traffic slowdowns near work-zones on Amsterdam Avenue. MTA bus service on Amsterdam Ave. will follow its normal routes, but riders may experience delays.

Why is this happening?

This project is part of the City’s Vision Zero initiative to reduce accidents and injuries on New York City streets. The plan includes installation of designated left turn lanes and new bike lanes and pedestrian crosswalks. Some changes to loading zones and metered parking are also expected.
