Electric Chevy Bolt and Hybrid-Electric Subaru Crosstrek Join Campus Services Fleet

Campus Services recently added an electric Chevy Bolt and a hybrid-electric Subaru Crosstrek to its sustainable vehicle fleet.

September 16, 2019

The hybrid Crosstrek has a fuel efficiency of 90 miles per gallon equivalent and, along with the fully-electric Chevy Bolt – which has a fuel efficiency of 128 miles per gallon equivalent – contributes to a significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction compared to the vehicles they replaced. The previous vehicles, two Toyota Scions, averaged just 21 miles per gallon.

As vehicles retire, Columbia’s policy is to replace them with hybrid or electric vehicles whenever possible. Currently, about 40 percent of Columbia’s fleet is made up of hybrid or 100 percent electric vehicles. The use of electric and hybrid vehicles supports the goals outlined in Columbia’s Sustainability Plan.
